Presented by DEA Diversion Investigator Christopher Paquette participants will learn about recordkeeping and security, the ins and outs of the Veterinary Drug Mobility Act, and DEA registration. The DEA will NOT be exhibiting at our Meeting, so come to the program with your questions!

Anesthesia and Pain Management

Dr. Manuel Martin-Flores, MV

  • Anesthetic management in dogs and cats with cardiac disease (2 lectures)

Dr. Martin-Flores received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Universidad Catolica de Cordoba, Argentina, in 2002. He worked in the private sector practicing small animal general veterinary medicine, and in academia as an instructor in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology for two years before coming to Cornell. He completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Cornell in 2007 and was then appointed as faculty in that section. Dr. Martin-Flores provides clinical anesthesia for all domestic species and is the director of the anesthesiology residency program at Cornell. His research is focused on neuromuscular function and monitoring, and cardiopulmonary function during anesthesia. Dr. Martin-Flores is a member of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia.

Review of Field Surgical Procedures

Dr. André Desrochers DMV, MS, DACVS, Dip. ECBHM                                                                       

  • Short surgical interventions
  • Abdominal surgery other than displaced abomasal procedures
  • Foot surgery and how to flush a joint

Dr. Desrochers graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Université de Montréal in 1986. He completed an internship in farm animal medicine and surgery at the same university. After 5 years in a dairy practice in the province of Quebec, he decided to complete a residency and a Master in Large Animal Surgery at Kansas State University from 1992-1995. He then moved back to the Université de Montréal where he is currently a professor of farm animal surgery and Chair of the Departement of Clinical Sciences. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European College of Bovine Health Management. His clinical and research interest are general surgery but more specifically lameness in cattle.

Accommodations - Special Rate Expires on January 15, 2022

The VVMA has a block of rooms at The DoubleTree by Hilton at a special rate of $129.00 plus tax. The DoubleTree is PET FRIENDLY, has free parking, and is within easy driving distance (less than 10 minutes) of downtown Burlington shops and restaurants.  The special rate is good for a limited number of rooms and is good for 3 days prior to and 3 days after the conference. Refund Policy

By January 24, a full refund minus a $25 per person processing fee. After January 24, a 50% refund. No refunds will be given after February 3. No credits will be given for future registrations.

CE Certificates

Certificates confirming your participation in the CE program will be provided by email after the conference concludes.  If you would like a paper copy, please let us know before February 4 and we will include it in your registration packet on-site.  Please note that we will also include a transcript in your CE locker on the VVMA website.
