Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Programs

Vermont Food Animal Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Program
Since 2011, the Vermont legislature has allocated $30,000 annually to the Vermont Food Animal Veterinary Education Loan Repayment Program (VFAVELRP) to support repayment of veterinary student loans of food animal veterinarians willing to practice in underserved areas of Vermont.   The Vermont Veterinary Medical Association administers the program, and applications are being accepted for our fall 2018 round of awards.  The deadline for submission is October 31, 2018.

Federal Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program
The Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program will pay up to $25,000 each year toward qualified educational loans of eligible veterinarians who agree to serve in a NIFA designated veterinarian shortage situations for a period of three years.  If you have any questions, contact Vermont State Veterinarian Kristin Haas (kristin.haas@state.vt.us).
