Rae

T. F. Lottery Rae, better known as Stinky or just plain Rae, is a Guernsey Cow owned by Murray Thompson and is a member of the herd at the Thompson Farm in Colchester VT. Rae is 2 1⁄2 years old. She was nominated for the Vermont Animal Hall of Fame by her VVMA member veterinarian, Dr Al Moraska.

Rae's professional duty is to "take forages that humans can not eat and turn them into nutritious and delicious milk" and Rae's milk has proved to be the highest quality of the whole herd! She was awarded the title of Top Producing Guernsey in Vermont for 2001 by the Vermont State Guernsey Breeders Association and is recognized by the American Guernsey Association as one of the top producers in the nation. Rae is described as "gentle", "calm", "productive", "thoughtful", "beautiful" and "a joy to work with". She quietly and consistently does her job with dedication and helps to educate her neighbors and non-farming friends about dairying and land management through the farm's newsletter named for her. (And rumor has it that Rae edits this newsletter as well!) In one of Rae's Messages from the Editor she states "the mind and udder are terrible things to waste" and she uses both to the fullest extent!

T. F. Lottery Rae is the very icon of Vermont's image and the VVMA would like to induct her into the Vermont Animal Hall of Fame in the Professional Animal Category.
