Doc

Doc, an eight year old German Shepherd Dog has served for 5 years as a member of the Hinesburg Community Police with his owner and handler Chief Chris Morrell. He was nominated for induction into the Vermont Animal Hall of Fame by VVMA member veterinarian Dr. Rich Armstrong.

Some of Doc's duties include detecting illegal narcotics, searching buildings for intruders, tracking fleeing fugitives, locating lost persons and providing back-up for other police officers. He also serves as a goodwill ambassador in the community. When accompanying Chief Morrell, he is a strong deterrent to those who would assault or resist police. Doc also helps bridge the gap between citizens and officers. Who could resist those sad brown eyes and not ask if they could pat or play with him? Doc successfully serves as a skilled professional dog while retaining his reputation as a good natured friend. The Hinesburg Community Police would need many more officers if Doc and his canine friend Tiger were not on the force.

The VVMA is very proud to induct Doc into the Vermont Animal Hall of Fame in the Professional Animal Category.
